HOLLYWOOD - Life is good and heading in the right direction. I’ve been thinking
about how different my attitude towards acting is now compared with a
year and a half ago when I started classes. I have learned so much about
acting, the business and myself!
What I have come to learn is this is a
business and you always have to be one step ahead in the game. I wasted
too much time waiting for the ‘fame’ to come to me and for my old
agent to make it happen. There are too many people in Hollywood who want
to do the same thing and who think it will happen overnight. My
commercial acting teacher (which is the very first class I took) said
that the advantage we had over everyone else in this town is that we
were actually taking a class and not being lazy.
I’ve been very productive the last month by taking my career into
my own hands. I got on the ball and decided to form a women’s theatre
company with two other actresses. We held auditions and are having
callbacks. We plan to write the material ourselves and give a great
show.
I can’t tell you how excited I am. I am now producing a play and
acting in it. This way I can prove myself as an actor and get some
notice and experience. I’ve always wanted to produce something and now
I’m finally doing - not talking.
Also, I have a new commercial agent, which is extremely
important. He has gotten me out on 8 auditions and one was a call back.
I missed 4 while I was out of town.
I’m not trying to brag - I just can’t
believe it. It’s what I have been working towards and wanting for a
year and a half.
Finally! Now I get the chance to book some jobs.
Next step is to get a theatrical agent and start working in
television and film. Being proactive is the name of the game in this
town, if you want to win!
We’ll see what happens. Wish me luck.
