HOLLYWOOD - "Prepare for
lots of rejection."
"You will audition more than you will work."
These are some of the things I've
heard over and over.
I thought to myself, "Oh no
problem, I can handle that." What I didn't expect was to be
rejected from the audition before ever getting to it.
I have an agent who has sent me out one time in six months. Albeit, it
was for a national beer commercial. However, being amongst one of the
few auditions I've ever been to in my life, I did not get called back.
This was expected.
I called my agent to ask him what
was going on. His words were, "You're pictures are weak. That's why
you're not getting called in."
Ok. My pictures are not that bad, if I must say so myself.
I think he's not even sending my pictures
out at all. I think he's just working for all of the models he
represents who make him money already.
So, I took my fourth set of headshots this last week. Guess what?
They're great. Not to sound egotistical, but if these pictures don't get
me into auditions then I'll know for a fact that I have a terrible
agent. I am already planning on looking for a new one. I don't have time
to wait around for some lazy agent, who doesn't care about my career.
I must make it myself. No one is
going to do it for me.
This is my new plan of attack: find
a new agent, crash commercial auditions and continue to submit myself to
Backstage West castings (the L.A. acting newspaper).
Look out world, here I come!!
